Applications Now Being Accepted for the 2005/2006 Vantagepoint Memorial Scholarship Fund

Each year, applications are accepted for a number of educational scholarships offered as part of the Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship Fund (the “Scholarship Fund”). Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply before the March 31, 2005 deadline.

The Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship Fund is a Section 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2001 by the ICMA Retirement Corporation to honor the sacrifice of public sector employees who gave so much to their communities and who paid the ultimate price for their service. The Scholarship Fund provides the children and spouses of public sector employees who died in the line of duty with greater security through educational scholarships that help them pursue college and vocational school education.

Since its inception, the Scholarship Fund has provided 60 students with scholarships worth over $250,000.

The Scholarship Fund will award up to $95,000 for the 2005/2006 school year and is currently soliciting applications. Children and spouses of Police, Fire and public sector employees who have died in the line of duty are encouraged to apply. Employees need not have been participants in retirement plans administered by ICMA-RC to be eligible.

The application deadline is March 31, 2005.
